Guide: Pregnancy and Development of Your Baby

Press Release: September 2013

Pregnancy & Development of Your Baby 2013/14 – Released

Preparing for a new arrival can be overwhelming, especially for first-time parents. However, Pro-Visual Publishing provides and easy-to-read guide to help potential parents and new parents prepare for the new arrival. In a collaborative effort with the Continence Foundation of Australia and the Childbirth Education Association of Australia, the newest edition of Pregnancy & Development of Your Baby is released with various tips, checklists and advice on how to look after yourself and at the same time look out for and look after your baby.

Sadly, accidental injury is the biggest killer of children aged between one and 14 in Australia today. Ensuring your home is safe for your baby should be one of your first tasks as a new parent. It's best to childproof your home before your baby begins to crawl and the simplest and best way to do this is to get on all fours and check out your home from what will be your baby’s perspective, when he or she becomes mobile. Safe-proofing your home must involve every area within your four walls, from the kitchen and lounge, to the bathroom and even outdoors. Other things to consider when planning and preparing for your new arrival include baby items, the nursery, and choosing the most suitable, and appropriate, car seat.

It is also important that as an expecting or new parent that you take care of yourself. With today’s technology, there are a number of ways to connect with other pregnant women and new parents; for example, via online baby and toddler groups. This guide also outlines how exercise, massage, vitamins and nutrition along with other health care suggestions can help you maintain your health and wellbeing as a parent, so that in the near future you can take just as much care of your baby as you do yourself.

“I would like to thank all of the sponsors of the Pregnancy & Development of Your Baby 2013/14 guide. Their support has made it possible for the guide to be distributed free of charge”, said John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
